Tonight we had a group dinner at our hotel, a Swiss BBQ. Tara had been "setting the table" for this dinner for a few days, announcing the chef would be fixing some of his specialties and asking us to be prepared to introduce our buddies during the evening. The eyebrows of the Texans in our group, there are six of us, perched up when we heard "BBQ." Really, here in Switzerland? They have BBQ? Wonder what it tastes like? Will the sauce be like ours? Yearning for a little home-cooking, we were anxious to try out the Swiss version. We settled into our seats in the dining room...
Ryan, Ian, Nate, Alex, Ed and Ronny (our bus driver)
Annette, Barbara, Ann and Joe
Brenda, Steve, Karen, Steve, Kelly and Tara
Andrea, Brian, Madison and Jacob
Ed, Lindsey, Jackie, Katie, Jody and Dorothy
Alan, Kim, Devoni and Tom
...and waited for the chef to unveil the trays of food sitting on the buffet table...which was...
a tantalizing array of grilled meats and fish and vegetables and salads.
No BBQ sauce...
...but incredibly delicious.
A small but tasty example of cultural misunderstanding. YOLO!
